This week is Starfinder week again on Sunday NPCs, so without further ado, here’s a crafty mechanic (and their unusual lover)! Not too many comments on this one, as the build is pretty straightforward, but they’ll make a good friend or foe for a variety of campaigns.

Since they were a young child, Talyin has been fascinated with machinery, especially starships. Growing up, they were always tinkering with various experiments and projects. The hum of the engines called to them, and they left their home planet as soon as they could to explore the galaxy. While Talyin is generally shy and reserved among other people, their engineering and computer skills made it easy to find work, hopping from starship to starship on contract jobs. When they signed on with a mercenary ship complaining of issues with its power core, though, their life changed forever. The power core problems were caused by a hesper (Alien Archive) named Deran, and rather than evict the mischievous fey, Talyin talked to him, impressing him with their technical know-how. The two became friends, and not long after, lovers. Now signed on with the ship permanently, Talyin travels the galaxy with Deran and the crew.
The PCs would most likely encounter Talyin and Deran together, as they’re rarely apart even during shore leave. They might be at cross-purposes with the mercenary outfit the two work for. Talyin is loyal more to the chance to stay close to Deran than the mercenaries themselves, and may bargain information to save their lives. Alternatively, Talyin might seek the PCs out for help after a job gone wrong, or be a useful consultant when it comes to engineering and mechanics.
